What is High Score Chips?
How many chips do I need?
It depends on how you play. A cash game and a tournament have different needs, and so does a four-handed home game versus a full table of ten. If your stakes change from night to night, that matters too.
Some hosts like a deep, generous supply of chips on the table.

Others prefer the smallest set that still plays well.

For most home games, we suggest about 700 chips for a single ten-player table. Here is a breakdown for a typical setup — ten players, a $50 buy-in, no-limit hold’em, blinds at 25¢/50¢:
- 25¢ — 125 chips. About 12 per player (roughly $3 each).
- $1 — 300 chips. About 27 per player (roughly $27 each).
- $5 — 200 chips. About 4 per player (roughly $20 each); after the initial buy-in, rebuys are paid in $5 chips.
- $25 — 50 chips. Not needed for this game, but useful if your stakes ever move up.
- $100 — 25 chips. Same purpose — headroom for a bigger night.
That mix handles a small-stakes game comfortably and still works if the stakes rise. It will not stretch to a larger table: if you regularly seat more than ten players, add more 25¢, $1, and $5 chips. Sets start at 300 chips and increase in steps of 25, so you can match the count to your game.
